With the 60% restriction on Spellbooks for the upcoming Tower events, it got me thinking about what options water has for card draw. With a 40 page Spellbook and 10 aura, you need 24 water pages to meet the 60% minimum, which only leaves 6 slots for non-water pages. I get the sense that LIAB will be very useful at the Water Tower, so having card draw from water pages in favour of leaving out bookmark, NYNB, 2nd Anniversary seems like it’s worth considering.

In filtering the Caster Society database for pages that have the word Bookmark somewhere on it, there are a lot of options. The following are my thoughts on what is actually viable to include in a competitive Spellbook.

Tidal Pull - draw 3 and place any two from your chapter on the bottom of your Spellbook, netting one less page from your Spellbook in the process. Protect your chapter from NYNB by stacking late game pages on the bottom. I would definitely be using this in my water spellbook.

Chessie - likely already in your Spellbook, but don’t forget to bookmark 1 on contract!

Flood the Earth - given the primary use of this page is irrelevant in the Water Tower format, pay one to draw one is an easy inclusion!

Invisibility - I think this is a really strong page at the Water Tower as casters will likely bring lots of crabs to defend their side of the arena. Giving your beasties invisibility to duck around crabs PLUS bookmarking one sounds pretty strong to me.

Frogman - again, probably already in your Spellbook, but don’t forget to bookmark one at the start of your turn!

Shawnahooc - let your opponent do the heavy lifting and you get to bookmark when they do! Tougher to pull off given the dual aura requirement, but I’m sure there are some dark/water builds that could work in this meta. I’m going to give that one some more thought.

Lake Worth Monster - its power let’s you bookmark one, though if your opponent has terra bonuses active on their crabs, they can take these beasties out with one attack, giving them an extra page in the process.

For anyone planning to compete at the Water Tower, will you be including Bookmarks in your Spellbook, or relying on water’s built in draw power?

I haven't planned to compete, as I definitely could not afford to, but I am very interested in this as well. I wonder if we will be seeing decks that are larger than average - water is the primary bookmarking aura, and if you're drawing 2-3 cards per turn, on most turns... why not go for a bigger spellbook?

Lady of the Lake is also an option, I believe - water/spirit, with a bookmark 1 everytime you attack. If you dualed out with spirit, Morpheus is an option - that could cut down on some bookmarking effects an opponent might have.
