Come join us at Metropolis Comics & Toys on Saturdays for free, best-of-three sanctioned Swiss tournaments open to players of all skill levels. Don’t know how to play at all? Drop in anyway, and we’ll guide you through your first game! Pre-made decks are available for those who do not yet have their own.

There is often a small dog present while we play. Please let us know ahead of time through Discord if you are allergic!

We play weekly on Saturdays at Metropolis Comics & Toys, in Burnaby, Metro Vancouver.

Metropolis Comics & Toys is located at Unit 200, 4735 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC, Canada. It is directly across the street from the Metrotown Mall on Kingsway.

To get into Metropolis Comics, use the outside door marked Unit 200 under the left corner of LeHomes Realty’s orange signage, and then go up the stairs. Parking is available behind the building (see below for more details).

Check-in beginning at 1 PM, with the game starting by 1:30 PM and typically ending by 5 PM. Please let us know if you are going to be late!

Our games are all free to play, and therefore generally don’t include prizes.

+ ACCESSIBILITY & AMENITIES INFORMATION:

PLEASE NOTE: Metropolis Comics is NOT wheelchair accessible; the store is located on the second floor and only accessible via staircase, with no elevator access available.

Bathrooms: There are no bathrooms in-store, but a single-stall, gender-neutral bathroom is available in the Subway next door. The code is 9090 if it happens to be locked.

Food/Drink: Drinks are available for purchase in-store, and outside food is allowed within reason as long as tables remain clean and trash is taken with you. There is a bin for bottles/cans, but no garbage can available in-store.

Parking/Transit: There is free parking in the parking lot behind the building or at the Metrotown Mall across the road. The nearest bus stops are all within one or two blocks, and the Metrotown Skytrain Station is on the other side of the mall, approximately a ten minute walk away.

SENSORY INFO:

For those with sensory concerns, there is dim overhead panel lighting, direct sunlight via the windows next to the play tables, and a television in the far corner that sometimes quietly plays movies or episodes. The store is air-conditioned in the summer.

The play area is located at the back of the store along its windows, and uses several types of padded chairs at tables that seat four. There is usually one or more other groups playing at the same time as us, but it does not usually get overcrowded, and store traffic is not overwhelming.

ALLERGY/PET INFO:

One of our players usually brings a small, friendly dog (named Boba) to our games. She is a toy Australian Shepherd, and is therefore NOT hypoallergenic; please let us know if you are allergic to dogs or animals ahead of time.

Boba is kept leashed and spends most of the game under the table in the same spot. She does not jump on people or bark, but will occasionally come looking for attention and will lick hands/faces if given the opportunity. She is very friendly and well behaved, and overall a very good girl in general.
